Multi-Directional 3-D LEM Slope Stability
نویسنده
چکیده
The limit equilibrium method (LEM) has been a main-stay of analysis for geotechnical engineers for decades. Applied typically in a 2-D plane strain condition the method has been extended in formulation to the method of columns in 3-D and is now gaining increased use in industry. The formulation of the 3-D method of columns has typically been presented in Cartesian coordinates and with the assumption that the slip direction is in the direction of positive or negative x-coordinates. This assumption severely limits the application of the method in a 3-D environment where the slip direction may be a searching parameter. This paper presents an extended 3-D solution method which allows solution of the 3-D method of columns at any slip direction. This extension will then allow the 3-D LEM to be applied to a broader class of typical geotechnical engineering calculations.

A Proposed Modeling Method in Finite Element Slope Stability Analysis
Limit-equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) with strength reduction method (SRM) techniques are the most widely used analysis tools in slope stability assessment. Recently, researchers have reported that both factor of safety (FOS) values and failure surfaces obtained from LEM and FEM are generally in good agreement, except in some particular cases. In this paper, the FOS and...

A slope formed when there is a height difference between two points of the ground surface. Limited or ambiguous data defined in the studying of the slip surface have always been posed as a challenge to engineers and geologists; however, previous studies presented the useful strategies for resolving this challenge. In general, Multi Layer Perceptrons (MLPs) (with three input, output and hidden l...
متن کاملSlope stability analysis with FLAC and limit equilibrium methods
The factor of safety for slopes (FS) has been traditionally evaluated using two-dimensional limit equilibrium methods (LEM). However the FS of a slope can also be computed with FLAC by reducing the soil shear strength in stages until the slope fails. This method is called the shear strength reduction technique (SSR). Many authors have pointed out several advantages of SSR over the limit equilib...
متن کاملDirectional Hölder Metric Regularity
This paper sheds new light on regularity of multifunctions through various characterizations of directional Hölder/Lipschitz metric regularity, which are based on the concepts of slope and coderivative. By using these characterizations, we show that directional Hölder/Lipschitz metric regularity is stable, when the multifunction under consideration is perturbed suitably. Applications of directi...
متن کاملTwo optimal algorithms for finding bi-directional shortest path design problem in a block layout
In this paper, Shortest Path Design Problem (SPDP) in which the path is incident to all cells is considered. The bi-directional path is one of the known types of configuration of networks for Automated Guided Vehi-cles (AGV).To solve this problem, two algorithms are developed. For each algorithm an Integer Linear Pro-gramming (ILP) is determined. The objective functions of both algorithms are t...
